If you want a more natural, nuanced sound, Rinascimento places the instruments in a natural space, very coherent with the original rooms where they were originally played. If you plan to add a lot of effects, the very dry and "harsh" samples in Era are fine. The ambience recorded in Rinascimento is very natural and very good. They sound more natural and are more flexible. Not all instruments are very deeply sampled, but they are more complete. On the other side, it seems to me that if you look for a more faithful sound, Rinascimento is much better than Era. Rinascimento has little to none of these particular ornaments. For this type of musical situation, it is a great library. Some of the articulations would not be used in a "classical" repertoire, but are of great use in rendering those imaginary Middle Ages gestures so typical of popular culture. It is a choice made to comply with a particular style, more than to be completely faithful to the original.
